Nicholas Nyland and Strath Shepard: we welcome you.

When we first discussed how we wanted to approach this opportunity, we found a common interest in ideas of early Modernism and the alternative forms it took before being mainstreamed into a faceless International Style. Our goal was to transform the DaDaDa gallery into a space that would welcome people to linger, browse and chat. Hand painted seating and handcrafted lighting fixtures by Nicholas (with visible fingerprints in the ceramic light diffusers) set a playful and idiosyncratic tone, hopefully priming you to discover other unique worldviews through the books chosen by Strath.

The modern movements of the last century were borne out of reactions to the horrors of war and political turmoil. As we settle into the next century and our current moment, it does not seem like an overstatement to say that we all could use a dose of optimism and respite in a space of good vibes.
